Heli Charters Australia proudly operates the Far North’s premier Flying School – Cairns Helicopter School. Our team of professional and experienced instructors are waiting on hand to take you to new heights! Cairns Helicopter School is regularly signing up students wishing to undertake study for a Private or Commercial Helicopter Pilot’s License.
Operating from the Cairns Domestic & International Airport, and utilizing two new Robinson 22 helicopters, Cairns Helicopter School offers a unique environment for flying school activities. We are fortunate to be located in such a diverse training area, as the vicinity exposes our students to a wide variety of scenarios – such as high altitude flying, controlled airspace and varying terrain types.
As a teaching institution, we are mindful of transit times to and from local training areas. Our initial instruction flights are conducted right here on the airport grassed areas, with advanced training only 6 minutes away, just south of Cairns International Airport. Additionally, specialized training is conducted from the Mareeba Airport in order to provide a further variety of terrain and flying conditions. The school is conveniently located adjacent to World Heritage areas such as the Great Barrier Reef, Daintree National Park and the Atherton Tablelands. Work and play could not be situated in a more exciting and entertaining environment.
Our Chief Flying Instructor (Noel Stubbs) heads up a team of talented flying instructors, collectively possessing masses of experience both in teaching and commercial flying. Not only do they instruct to the of highest standards, but they can also provide insight into flying opportunities and experiences in “real world” situations.
Noel and the team will teach you to fly, with all phases of training conducted in accordance with stringent CASA requirements. The safety standards we conform to are amongst the highest in the world, and an Australian Pilot’s license is highly regarded throughout the world.
The team is also mindful that each individual student has unique strengths and shortfalls, and will adapt the teaching program in consultation with each student to give them the best possible chance of success. Individual tutoring can help with understanding the theory, as well as support the actual flight components of training.
